Maruti Suzuki has announced price reductions on a range of its vehicles, effective September 22, 2025. This decision is a direct result of the recent reduction in Goods and Services Tax (GST) rates on automobiles, with the company aiming to pass the savings on to consumers. The new prices are expected to stimulate sales during the upcoming festive season.
The company highlights that the price cuts will be further enhanced by additional discounts provided by Maruti Suzuki.
The specific price reductions include:
* S-Presso: Up to ₹1.29 lakh off
* Alto K10: Up to ₹1.07 lakh off
* Ertiga: Up to ₹46,000 off
* Fronx and Brezza (SUVs): Up to ₹1.12 lakh off
Smaller cars will experience more significant price drops. The price cuts range from 12.6% to 24% for the S-Presso, 10.6% to 20% for the Alto K10, 8.6% to 17% for the Celerio, and 8.7% to 14% for the WagonR.
According to Maruti Suzuki, the price reductions are aimed at addressing declining sales in the small car segment, which were partly attributed to perceived high prices. The company anticipates that the combination of GST reduction, adjusted tax slabs, and lower interest rates will improve market conditions and encourage more people to consider car ownership. Maruti Suzuki also aims to increase car penetration in India, where the current car ownership rate is relatively low.
The company noted a drop of 8.8% in passenger vehicle sales in August 2025 and hopes the new prices will stabilize the entry-level segment. Moreover, Maruti Suzuki has assured that the GST reduction will also be applied to car service and maintenance parts, further reducing the total cost of vehicle ownership for customers.
