Tesla’s Model Y deliveries have commenced in India, marking a significant milestone for the electric vehicle company. Following the delivery to Maharashtra’s Transport Minister, Pratap Sarnaik, Siddharth Jain, Executive Director of the INOX Group, has become the first Indian industrialist to take delivery of a Tesla Model Y. Jain shared his excitement on X (formerly Twitter), tagging Elon Musk in his post.
Jain’s post read, “This ones for you @ElonMusk!!! I am beyond thrilled to receive India Inc’s 1st @Tesla ! I have been waiting for this precious moment ever since I visited the Tesla Fremont factory in 2017! Dreams do come true!” Elon Musk responded, offering his congratulations.
Tesla is actively establishing its presence in India, with its first showroom opening in Mumbai’s Bandra-Kurla Complex on July 15, 2025. A second showroom followed in Delhi’s Aerocity on August 11. The company is prioritizing the premium electric car market, with initial deliveries planned for Mumbai, Delhi, Pune, and Gurugram.
The Tesla Model Y is being imported into India as a CBU. The base model price is ₹59.89 lakh. The long-range variant pricing begins from this point. Bookings are available on the official website.
The Model Y offers two battery options:
* 60 kWh battery: Provides a range of approximately 500 km (WLTP certified) on a single charge.
* 75 kWh battery (Long Range variant): Offers a range of about 622 km.
An autonomous driving feature is available for an additional ₹6 lakh. The Tesla Model Y features premium amenities, safety technology, and all-electric performance.
