The Indian SUV market features a diverse range of vehicles. While Mahindra SUVs are well-regarded, August saw a shift in sales dynamics. Mahindra Scorpio’s sales dipped, whereas other SUVs gained momentum. Mahindra Scorpio’s sales reached 9,840 units last month, reflecting a 29% decrease compared to the 13,787 units sold in August 2024. Tata Nexon emerged as the top-selling SUV, achieving 14,004 units. This represented a 14% annual increase and a 9% monthly rise. The Nexon’s strong performance highlights its dominance in the compact SUV segment, surpassing the Scorpio. The Mahindra Scorpio Classic is priced between ₹13.77 lakh and ₹17.72 lakh (ex-showroom), with the Scorpio N starting at ₹13.99 lakh. The Scorpio, a 7-seater compact SUV, offers a 2.2L diesel engine with manual transmission. It includes safety features like dual airbags, ABS, rear parking sensors, and steering-wheel-mounted controls, along with LED roof lighting and manual central locking. The Tata Nexon is available for ₹8.3 lakh to ₹17.2 lakh (ex-showroom), with petrol, diesel, and CNG engine choices. It holds a 5-star BNCAP safety rating and is equipped with 6 airbags, a panoramic sunroof, and a JBL sound system. The Nexon has a ground clearance of 208 mm, a 382-liter boot space, and a 44-liter fuel tank, delivering a mileage of 16.75 to 22.3 km per liter.
