Tejashwi Yadav, a prominent figure in the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), is commencing his ‘Bihar Adhikar Yatra’ from Tuesday. The yatra, as announced by the RJD, will begin in Jehanabad and will then proceed to various districts, including Nalanda, Begusarai, Patna, Khagaria, and Samastipur, before culminating in Vaishali on September 20th. Notably, Yadav’s own constituency, Raghopur, and the constituency of Mahua, formerly represented by his brother Tej Pratap Yadav, are both situated in Vaishali. Tej Pratap is considering re-entering the political arena from Mahua after being removed from the party by his father.
The first leg of the Bihar Adhikar Yatra is scheduled to run for five days, from September 16th to 20th. During this period, Tejashwi Yadav plans to visit several key locations, including Nalanda, the home district of CM Nitish Kumar, and Begusarai, the constituency of Union Minister Giriraj Singh. He will also travel to Patna, Khagaria, Madhepura, Supaul, Saharsa, and Samastipur. Yadav shared a video on social media, urging support for the yatra. He stated that the yatra aims to establish new industries, provide employment opportunities, ensure quality education, and promote overall development and employment in Bihar.
Reports suggest that the NDA believes Tejashwi Yadav’s decision to launch the ‘Bihar Adhikar Yatra’ was influenced by Rahul Gandhi’s reluctance to declare him as the chief ministerial candidate during the Voter Adhikar Yatra. Sanjay Yadav, a close aide of Yadav, highlighted that the Voter Adhikar Yatra addressed the issue of wrongful deletions from the voter list. The Bihar Adhikar Yatra, according to him, will serve as a platform for Yadav to connect with the public, a strength of his leadership.
