The government of India, having already launched E20 petrol nationwide, is now focusing on blended diesel. The initiative aims to create a diesel blend using isobutanol, a substance derived from ethanol, as opposed to directly mixing ethanol. Earlier trials of blending ethanol with diesel did not yield positive results, prompting the shift to isobutanol.
This new approach is currently undergoing testing. The Minister of Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari, provided insights into the project’s experimental stage, hinting at the future potential of incorporating isobutanol in diesel fuels.
