Maruti Suzuki has introduced the Victoris, a new SUV designed to compete directly with the Hyundai Creta. The Victoris, unveiled recently, stands out as Maruti’s first vehicle to incorporate Level-2 ADAS technology. The vehicle is slated for export from India to various global markets.
Mechanically, the Victoris offers powertrain options mirroring those of the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara. A 1.5-liter naturally aspirated petrol engine is available, paired with a 5-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic transmission. Select variants include a four-wheel drive system with the petrol engine. A CNG variant also utilizes this engine configuration, but it is exclusively offered with a manual transmission.
A key design element is the inclusion of an underbody CNG tank in the Victoris, allowing the CNG variant to maintain a boot space comparable to the petrol version. The strong hybrid engine is derived from the Grand Vitara, now featuring locally assembled lithium-ion batteries. Power outputs for the petrol engine are rated at 101 bhp and 137 Nm of torque, while the CNG variant produces 87 bhp and 121 Nm of torque. The strong hybrid powertrain generates 91 bhp and 122 Nm of torque.
The Victoris boasts a sporty exterior design characterized by a vertical hood, angular LED headlamps, and a chrome strip on the front fascia. It features dual-tone 17-inch alloy wheels and a selection of 10 colors, including the new Eternal Blue and Mystic Green. The rear design incorporates full-width LED taillamps and a gesture-controlled powered tailgate. The taillight design is reminiscent of the Maruti Swift, with an enhanced 3D effect.
Inside, the Victoris offers two interior trim levels. The dashboard features a layered design and 64-color ambient lighting. The vehicle includes a 10.25-inch digital driver display and a touchscreen infotainment system with pre-loaded applications such as Alexa. The system supports over-the-air updates and provides access to over 60 features via Suzuki Connect. Additional features include a dual-pane sunroof, a PM 2.5 air filter, an 8-speaker surround Infinity sound system with Dolby Atmos, and an 8-way powered and ventilated driver’s seat.
In terms of safety, the Victoris has received a 5-star rating from both Bharat NCAP and Global NCAP. Standard safety features include 6 airbags, electronic stability control, and seat belt reminders. The Victoris also incorporates advanced safety technologies such as a heads-up display, a 360-degree camera, and Level-2 ADAS, specifically calibrated for Indian road conditions.
The Maruti Suzuki Victoris is priced starting at ₹10.50 lakh (ex-showroom). The strong hybrid version starts at ₹16.38 lakh, and the CNG range begins at ₹11.50 lakh. All prices are ex-showroom. The petrol variants of the Victoris range from the LXi to the VXi, ZXi, ZXi(O), ZXi Plus, and ZXi Plus (O). The CNG variants are offered in LXi, VXi, and ZXi trims.
