The capital city of Jharkhand, Ranchi, has been experiencing continuous rainfall for approximately 20 hours, leading to significant disruption. Roads and numerous residential areas are submerged under water, making movement difficult. The intensity of the waterlogging on several roads gives the impression of vehicles moving through a body of water. The ongoing rain has severely affected daily life, with various essential services failing. Residents are struggling to move around, often wading through water that reaches their knees.
The forecast indicates that this weather pattern is likely to continue for the next four to five days. The Ranchi-based Meteorological Department has issued warnings for heavy rainfall throughout the state over the coming days. A yellow alert is in effect for 18 districts, while an orange alert is in place for 6 others. Authorities have also urged citizens to exercise caution due to the risk of lightning strikes during the intense rainfall.
