A cyber fraud case has been reported, highlighting the vulnerability of bank accounts to OTP-based scams. The victim lost a significant amount of money. Police are investigating the incident.
Rakesh Suryavanshi, a resident of Vinoba Nagar under Tarbahar police station, was the victim of the scam. The fraudsters employed an OTP to gain access to his account. The incident came to light when Rakesh checked his mobile and discovered an OTP message. Shortly after receiving the message, ₹2,35,338 was debited from his account. His remaining balance was a mere ₹1,423.97.
The victim immediately reported the fraud to the local police. Recognizing the severity of the crime, the police have filed a case against unidentified perpetrators under sections 318 and 4 of the BNS. The investigation is currently underway.
