In Assam, Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched development projects worth Rs 6,500 crore and addressed a public meeting in Darrang. He used the opportunity to criticize the Congress party, stating, “I am a devotee of Lord Shiva and I swallow all the poison.” Modi referenced his recent visit to Assam after ‘Operation Sindoor,’ attributing its success to blessings from Maa Kamakhya. He also discussed the recent celebration honoring Bharat Ratna recipient Sudhakanta Bhupen Hazarika, and the government’s dedication to fulfilling the aspirations of Assam’s forefathers. He mentioned a comment by the Congress party president regarding the Bharat Ratna awarded to Hazarika. Modi declared, “I am a devotee of Lord Shiva, and I swallow all the poison.” He reflected on the 1962 war with China, and how the wounds of the Northeast people, stemming from Pandit Nehru’s words, remain unhealed, with the current Congress leadership continuing to exacerbate these wounds. He added that, though he often receives criticism, he, as a devotee of Lord Shiva, absorbs negativity but cannot tolerate disrespect towards others. The Prime Minister emphasized that the public is his deity, and his soul will find expression before them. Finally, he highlighted the significance of the North East’s role in a developing India, noting, “This is the time for the North East.”
