Sushila Karki, Nepal’s Interim Prime Minister, began her term on Sunday. She had taken the oath of office on September 12th. Following the assumption of her duties, Karki declared that an investigation would be launched into the individuals implicated in acts of sabotage during the recent protests. She clarified that her administration is not seeking to relish power but rather intends to serve for a limited duration, transferring authority to a new parliament within six months. Karki also made an announcement regarding the recognition of those who died during the anti-government movements as martyrs.
Karki underscored the importance of the Nepali people’s backing for their success. She mentioned the unique 27-hour protest in Nepal, where citizens demanded economic equality and an end to corruption. She expressed that everyone needs to unite for rebuilding Nepal. She also committed to working towards reinforcing the nation. She added that they must progress in accordance with the mindset of the Gen Z generation.
