In a move to support the journalistic community, Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav has announced an extension to the application deadline for the health and accident group insurance scheme. The new deadline for journalists to apply is now September 27th, a change from the original date of September 22nd. Furthermore, the state government will cover the increase in insurance premiums, ensuring that journalists pay the same amount in the 2025-26 financial year as they did in 2024-25.
Dr. Yadav highlighted the value of journalists and assured them of the government’s support. Despite the increased premium costs compared to last year, the government will shoulder the extra expense. This initiative is projected to cost the state government an additional Rs 4.50 crore.
The Chief Minister confirmed that the established premium rate will be maintained for journalists annually, alleviating any additional financial strain. This decision is designed to make the group insurance scheme, administered by the Public Relations Department, more accessible and advantageous for journalists.
