A petition has been lodged in the Supreme Court to potentially cancel the upcoming India-Pakistan match in the 2025 Asia Cup. The petitioner, Ketan Tirodkar, argues that hosting the match goes against the national interest, given the current circumstances. The petitioner claims that the Board of Control for Cricket in India’s (BCCI) decision violates Article 21 of the Constitution, which guarantees the right to life and personal liberty, including the right to a dignified life, livelihood, and a healthy environment. The petition also alleges that the match could be detrimental due to Pakistan-sponsored terrorist activities that have resulted in the deaths of soldiers and civilians.
