The Bihar government has increased security along its border with Nepal due to recent unrest in the neighboring country, including a ‘Gen Z’ led movement and reports of jailbreaks. A high-level meeting was convened on September 10, 2025, to address these concerns. The meeting, led by Chief Secretary Pratyay Amrit, involved district officials from areas bordering Nepal, participating via video conference.
The primary aim of the meeting was to prepare for any potential issues stemming from the situation in Nepal. Chief Secretary Amrit gave specific instructions to district authorities, including the police, to closely monitor all individuals entering Bihar from Nepal. Entry without proper scrutiny was strictly prohibited.
Furthermore, the Chief Secretary directed increased vigilance at key locations within the state, such as important infrastructure like bridges, railway stations and power plants, in an effort to prevent any potential incidents. Officials were assured that they could contact the Chief Secretary or the Director General of Police (DGP) directly for any emergency assistance. This direct line of communication is designed to ensure swift decision-making.
The meeting was also attended by the Director General of Police (DGP) Vinay Kumar and Additional Director General (ADG) Kundan Krishnan. Senior officials from the Home Department, along with divisional commissioners, and district officials also took part in the VC.
