The Asia Cup 2025 has begun. Afghanistan won the first match against Hong Kong. The second match of this tournament will be played on September 10 between Team India and the United Arab Emirates (UAE). Team India is intensely preparing for this match on the field. During practice, Team India’s vice-captain, Shubman Gill, was clean bowled by an unfamiliar bowler. In contrast, his teammate Abhishek Sharma displayed a remarkable display of six-hitting, smashing around 30 sixes, astonishing the Indian team.
Shubman Gill’s Dismissal
Before the match against UAE, Indian team players practiced extensively at Dubai’s ICC Academy. During batting practice, Shubman Gill, the vice-captain of Team India, was seen hitting excellent shots with the new ball. Reports stated he played several impressive cover drives. However, a local bowler delivered a fast ball that breached his defense and hit the off stump, leaving him surprised.
Simultaneously, Abhishek Sharma practiced batting intensely. He batted for about an hour and hit roughly 30 sixes, with many clearing the academy boundaries. His shots brought joy to the team. Gill and Sharma are anticipated to open the innings against UAE.
Gill and Sharma to Open?
Reports suggest that Shubman Gill and Abhishek Sharma are likely to open for the Indian team against UAE. This might mean that wicketkeeper-batsman Sanju Samson might be excluded. Team India is playing a T20I match after a considerable period and wishes to win the opening match convincingly. Expectations are high for Abhishek Sharma and Shubman Gill.
During practice, wicketkeeper-batsman Jitesh Sharma was seen practicing wicketkeeping. However, senior players like Jasprit Bumrah, Harshit Rana, and Kuldeep Yadav did not participate. Arshdeep Singh, the left-arm fast bowler, was seen practicing with strength and conditioning coach Adrian Le Roux.
