The latest film in ‘The Conjuring’ series, ‘The Conjuring: Last Rites,’ is performing remarkably well in India. The film has surpassed its domestic counterparts and is already breaking records during its initial week. The movie, helmed by Michael Chaves and starring Vera Farmiga and Patrick Wilson, continued its successful run on Tuesday. The film garnered approximately ₹5.68 crore on Tuesday, showing a 13.6% increase from the ₹5 crore earned on Monday. This strong performance builds upon a successful opening weekend, where the film surpassed ₹50.5 crore net in three days. So far, the film’s net collection has reached ₹61.18 crore and grossed ₹60.40 crore. This achievement is considered the largest opening for a Hollywood horror film in India. ‘The Conjuring: Last Rites’ is closely approaching the ₹61.80 crore record set by ‘The Conjuring 2’ in India. Furthermore, ‘Final Destination: Bloodlines’ previously held this record with ₹62.12 crore. Given its present momentum, ‘Last Rites’ is expected to surpass both films. The film’s cumulative gross collection by day five amounts to ₹67.5 crore. The English version of the film generated ₹33.34 crore, with the Hindi dub contributing ₹24.38 crore. The Tamil and Telugu dubbed versions earned ₹2.51 crore and ₹95 lakh, respectively. Thus, the total earnings from regional languages totaled ₹3.46 crore. ‘The Conjuring: Last Rites’ has eclipsed domestic films, leading the box office charts. Globally, ‘The Conjuring: Last Rites’ achieved the biggest opening for a horror film. The film earned $194 million worldwide in its first weekend, outperforming the 2017 film ‘It,’ which made $190 million. Of this, $110 million came from the overseas market, setting a new international record for the horror genre. The ‘Conjuring’ franchise, which includes films like ‘The Nun’ and ‘Annabelle,’ is now the most lucrative horror series in history, with a total gross exceeding $2.3 billion.
