Born Rajiv Hari Om Bhatia on September 9, 1967, in Amritsar, Punjab, he is popularly known as Akshay Kumar. Today, he celebrates his 58th birthday. He commenced his acting career with the film ‘Saugandh’ in 1991. He married Twinkle Khanna a decade later. Prior to Akshay and Twinkle’s wedding, Akshay’s mother-in-law, Dimple Kapadia, put forth a certain condition that needed to be fulfilled.
What was the condition imposed before Akshay and Twinkle’s wedding?
During a past appearance on Karan Johar’s show ‘Koffee with Karan,’ Twinkle recounted that when she told her father, Rajesh Khanna, about her wish to marry Akshay, a thorough investigation was carried out. Akshay even mentioned that his mother-in-law had perceived him as ‘gay’ and, therefore, proposed a live-in arrangement for Akshay and Twinkle.
Rajesh Khanna also agreed to this. Dimple Kapadia’s condition was that they live together. If, after two years of living together, they still wished to get married, then they would proceed with it. Subsequently, Akshay and Twinkle lived together in a Mumbai flat for about 2 years before they decided to get married. Akshay and Twinkle were married on January 17, 2001.

‘Aaj,’ which was released in 1988, was the first film where Akshay Kumar had a secondary role. His first film as a lead actor was ‘Saugandh,’ which was a hit.
