In response to the devastating floods, the Punjab government has unveiled a comprehensive relief package. A key component is the implementation of a new sand policy across the state, benefiting farmers whose fields have been impacted by flooding. The government has also approved compensation for farmers, with ₹20,000 per acre allocated for crop losses. This initiative is accompanied by financial support for families who have suffered fatalities due to the floods, with each family receiving ₹4 lakh. Moreover, the government has introduced a six-month reprieve on loan installments for farmers who have loans with Punjab Co-operative Banks, ensuring no interest accrues during this period. The government has also outlined several additional measures, including vaccination drives after the floodwaters recede, medical camps for health check-ups, extensive sanitation efforts, surveys and repairs of schools, colleges, and government buildings, surveys for livestock losses, and directives for officials to provide immediate assistance to the public.
