Volodymyr Zelensky, the President of Ukraine, has turned down Russian President Vladimir Putin’s invitation to meet in Moscow. Zelensky stated that he could not go to the ‘capital of terrorists’ due to the ongoing missile strikes Ukraine is facing. He suggested that Putin could come to Kyiv for a meeting instead.
Zelensky believes that proposing a meeting in Moscow is an indication that Russia is not interested in genuine peace talks. US President Donald Trump has been pushing for a direct meeting between Zelensky and Putin, and the two leaders previously met in Alaska to explore this possibility.
