The movie ‘Baahubali,’ which was released 10 years ago, became a milestone in Indian cinema. This film was also highly appreciated by the Hindi-speaking audience. ‘Baahubali’ made a huge amount of money worldwide. The late Bollywood actress Sridevi was also offered a role in this film, but she turned it down. Years later, Sridevi’s husband, Boney Kapoor, revealed the reason for this decision and said that it happened because of a misunderstanding and lies spread by the film’s producer.
When Sridevi rejected ‘Baahubali,’ the director of the film, S.S. Rajamouli, claimed that Sridevi had asked for an entire hotel floor, flight tickets for her staff, and a fee of 10 crore rupees. However, Sridevi had refuted these claims. Now, Boney Kapoor has revealed the real reason for his wife’s rejection of this film.
In a recent conversation with a YouTube channel, Boney said that S.S. Rajamouli wanted to cast Sridevi in his film. According to Boney, he still has a message from Rajamouli in which he wrote that he was a fan of Sridevi. But after their conversation, his respect for her increased even more, because she gave good suggestions.
Why did Sridevi reject ‘Baahubali’? Boney further said that the producer, Shobu Yarlagadda, had spread misunderstandings about Sridevi. After this, the actress did not work in the film. Boney further said, “Rajamouli came to our house for the film. We had a conversation, and when he went out of the room, the producer offered Sridevi a lower fee than her 2012 film ‘English Vinglish.’ She was not a struggling actress. You were just getting a benefit by casting her. Why would I let my wife do this?”
Producer’s lies about Sridevi. Boney further said that Shobu had lied to Rajamouli about Sridevi’s fee for the film. Boney said, “I think the producer never told Rajamouli about his offer. He told Rajamouli that Sridevi wanted an entire hotel floor, a team, but we only wanted major shoots when our children had holidays. So they can be involved as well.” Boney also accused Shobu of calling Sridevi unprofessional. On the producer’s accusation, Boney said, “If she was unprofessional, why would Rakesh Roshan work with her in 3 films, Yash Chopra in 4 films, D Ramanaidu in 6 films and Raghavendra Rao in more than 20 films?”
