Amidst the heightened political atmosphere in Bihar, Jan Suraaj Party founder Prashant Kishor has revealed his potential constituencies for the upcoming elections. If he decides to run, Kishor indicated that he would consider contesting from either Kargahar, his native place, or Raghopur, the constituency of RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav. The statement came during an interaction with the media in Karakat, approximately 120 km from the capital, in response to queries about his intention to participate in the elections, which he had expressed in a recent interview. Kishor clarified that he had not yet made a formal announcement but added that if the party decides to field him, he would likely contest from either Kargahar or Raghopur. Kishor emphasized that Kargahar, within the Sasaram Lok Sabha constituency in the Rohtas district, is his “birthplace,” while Raghopur is his “karmabhoomi,” or place of work, much like the rest of Bihar. He has been hinting at contesting from Raghopur for some time. Raghopur is located in the Vaishali district, part of the Hajipur Lok Sabha constituency, currently represented by Union Minister Chirag Paswan. Tejashwi Yadav of RJD has won from this seat twice, in 2015 and 2020. His father, Lalu Prasad Yadav, the RJD president, also previously contested from this seat. Kishor also commented on a video that has gone viral on social media, showing Tejashwi Yadav celebrating the success of Rahul Gandhi’s Voter Rights Yatra. The yatra took place in 25 districts and covered a distance of over 1,300 kilometers. Kishor remarked that the video highlights the failures of Tejashwi Yadav in studies, cricket, and now in organizing small-scale events. It is worth noting that Kishor had worked for the RJD, JDU, and Congress alliance during the 2015 assembly elections. Kishor also addressed the Bihar bandh called by the NDA in response to the use of offensive language against PM Modi’s deceased mother. He suggested that the public would not support the bandh, which he viewed as an initiative led by political leaders. He contrasted this with the Jan Suraaj Party meetings, claiming they will each have at least 20,000 attendees. Responding to the news that state BJP president Dilip Jaiswal, whom he has criticized over alleged irregularities in medical colleges, broke down in tears over the comments made against PM Modi’s mother, Kishor expressed amusement. He said that Jaiswal should have used the moment to address the allegations against him and indicated that he would soon release more evidence against Jaiswal and other Bihar leaders. Jan Suraaj Party has recently accused BJP leaders Dilip Jaiswal, Health Minister Mangal Pandey, West Champaran MP Sanjay Jaiswal, and JDU Rural Works Minister Ashok Chaudhary of serious misconduct.
