Akshay Kumar and Katrina Kaif, known for their successful on-screen collaborations, have delivered several hit films together. Yet, ‘De Dana Dan’ stands out as an exception, failing to earn back its budget and disappointing at the box office. The film’s failure couldn’t be averted despite the presence of actors like Sunil Shetty.
The duo have previously given hits such as ‘Sooryavanshi,’ ‘Welcome,’ ‘Namastey London,’ ‘Singh Is Kinng,’ and ‘Humko Deewana Kar Gaye.’ ‘De Dana Dan’ however, did not fare well in theaters. This film was released on November 27, 2009, and featured Akshay Kumar, Katrina Kaif, and Sunil Shetty. It also included performances by Paresh Rawal, Johnny Lever, and Rajpal Yadav.
Despite being an action comedy, the movie failed to resonate with audiences. Directed by Priyadarshan, the film was made on a budget of 60 crore rupees. However, it only managed to collect 48 crore rupees in India, resulting in a significant financial loss. Akshay Kumar has a busy schedule, with three films released this year already. He will next appear in ‘Jolly LLB 3’ alongside Arshad Warsi and Saurabh Shukla, slated for a September 19 release. Recently, Akshay also commenced shooting for Priyadarshan’s new film, ‘Hera Pheri 3’.
