A recent Jharkhand Cabinet meeting saw the approval of the dismissal of four female doctors serving across various districts of the state. Those slated for termination are Dr. Farhana, a gynecologist at Sadar Hospital in Giridih; Dr. Jyoti Kumari, a medical officer at the Additional Primary Health Center in Balkush (Tundi), Dhanbad, currently on deputation at the Primary Health Center in Topchanchi, Dhanbad; Dr. Bhavna, a medical officer at the Community Health Center in Markachcho, Koderma; and Dr. Rinku Kumari Singh, a medical officer at the Community Health Center in Chandankiyari, Bokaro. Furthermore, the Cabinet sanctioned the removal of Dr. Indranath Prasad, a medical officer at Sadar Hospital, Sahibganj, from his position.
In related matters, the Cabinet decided on the allocation of Guruji’s (Rajya Sabha MP Shibu Soren) residence in Morhabadi to his wife, Rupi Soren. This housing was provided to Guruji for his lifetime.
Additionally, the Cabinet addressed a multitude of other important issues. These include the approval of the Jharkhand Free and Compulsory Child Education (Second Amendment) Rules, 2025, as well as the implementation of guidelines for recording evidence from vulnerable witnesses in 2025. Other key decisions included granting appointments on compassionate grounds to dependents of former daily workers based on the orders of the Jharkhand High Court. The Cabinet also approved the Jharkhand State Road Safety Fund (Amendment) Rules-2025 and addressed pension and family pension eligibility for temporary clerks who served as additional clerks after December 1, 2004.
The Cabinet further greenlit the re-publication of the Census-2027 notification within Jharkhand, following directives from the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India. The issuance of Jharkhand Diseases Donor Organ and Transplantation Guidelines was also approved. Additionally, the duties of the Women, Child Development, and Social Security Department now encompass manual scavengers under the First Schedule of the Jharkhand Executive Rules, -2000 (as amended).
Numerous financial decisions were also made. The third revised estimate of Rs 1851 crore 67 lakh 74 thousand was approved for the Punasi Reservoir Scheme. Ex-post facto approval was granted for mandatory live photo requirements for applicants of the Jharkhand Chief Minister’s Maiyan Samman Yojana. Furthermore, the establishment of the Chief Minister Jharkhand International Migrant Worker Grant and Assistance Fund was approved, providing support to international migrant workers during crises. This includes financial assistance for repatriation of deceased workers and aid for returning workers.
The Cabinet also approved the PM Formalization of Micro Food Processing Enterprises (PMFME) scheme for 2025-26, facilitating the organization of food processing units in the unorganized sector. The second revised administrative approval was given for constructing the Road Over Bridge (ROB) at Level Crossing Number 04/E on the Satsangnagar-Bhirakhibad Path (MDR-235) at an estimated cost of Rs 49.10 crore. The state will cover Rs 40.63 crore of this cost. Another approval covered the reconstruction of the Bariyatu Kalikaran Path (MDR-101) to Hundru via Tonagatu IPL Factory Path, transferring responsibility from the Rural Works Department to the Road Construction Department, with an estimated budget of Rs 34.36 crore.
The adoption of the Inland Vessels (Life Saving Appliances) Rules 2022, as notified by the Ministry of Ports, Shipping, and Waterways, was approved. The formation of the State Sahitya Akademi and the Jharkhand State Sangeet Natak Akademi was authorized, with the latter aiming to promote cultural activities and unity across Jharkhand. The Jharkhand Tourism Development and Registration Act (Amendment) Bill-2025 was also given the go-ahead.
The Cabinet endorsed the state’s involvement in the World Bank-funded Dam Rehabilitation and Improvement Project, and approved the Jharkhand Coaching Center (Control and Regulation) Bill-2025. It also authorized the transfer of the Keliasol to Khadapathar Path in Dhanbad district from the Rural Works Department to the Road Construction Department, along with a construction budget of Rs 58.07 crore.
Furthermore, the Cabinet sanctioned Rs 75.97 crore for the construction of the Hata Chaibasa railway crossing to Barachiru and Power Grid Link Path, as well as the construction of 50 Anganwadi centers in Scheduled Tribe dominant regions under the Dharti Aba Janjatiya Gram Utkarsh Abhiyan (DAJGUUA). Approval was also granted for an agreement with a selected agency for Dhanbad Airport projects using PPP mode. Increases were approved for the Marang Gomke Jaipal Singh Munda Pardeshiya Chhatravritti Yojana-2020 scholarship program. Modifications were approved for the Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission Examination Rules and the amendment to the Jharkhand Jal Sansadhan Samvidak Niyamanvali-2018. The scheme for Government Engineering College in Giridih was approved for Rs 244 crore 73 lakh. Additionally, 109 Anganwadi centers were approved for areas with Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups (PVTGs) under PM JANMAN. The Cabinet also approved Rs 104.25 crore for road works. The amended rules of the Jharkhand Government Drinking Water and Sanitation Department Contractors Registration and Renewal Rules-2012 were also approved.
Pensions were approved for teachers and staff of 180 non-governmental aided madrasas and 11 recognized Sanskrit schools from the pre-partition period. Financial allocations included Rs 74.95 crore for a 132/33 kV grid sub-station, Rs 174.36 crore for a Baliapur-Maithon transmission line, Rs 67.59 crore for a Baliapur-Sindri transmission line, Rs 113.43 crore for a gas insulated sub-station in Dhanbad, Rs 77.66 crore for the Chandankiyari-Govindpur transmission line, and Rs 173.10 crore for a grid sub-station at Maithon. Additional funding of Rs 172.88 crore was allocated for a gas insulated sub-station at Maithon, with Rs 126.18 crore earmarked for the Maithon-Tundi transmission line. Finally, Rs 74.95 crore was approved for a grid sub-station in Sindri. Funding of Rs 28.77 crore was approved under the Jharkhand Consultancy Project for power lines, and Rs 39.88 crore for rescue platform vehicles. The formation and administration of the Jharkhand Budget Stabilization Fund Rules-2025 and the departmental notification regarding the Jharkhand Beverages Corporation Limited (JSBCL) were approved as well.
