According to initial reports, a fire started on the lower floors of the Babylon Tower, a large corporate building in the Telibandha police station area of Raipur on Tuesday night. The fire rapidly spread throughout the tower, reaching the 7th floor. Upon receiving the information, the police and fire brigade were alerted. The fire brigade began extinguishing the fire. To prevent the fire from spreading due to a short circuit, the fire brigade cut off the tower’s power supply.
Reports indicate that many people were trapped inside the tower. After extinguishing the fire, the fire brigade initiated rescue operations. Due to smoke and power outage, people faced suffocation and called for help. The tower also houses restaurants on the top floors, and the fire brigade received information about several people being trapped there.
Raipur Collector Gaurav Singh and SP Lal Umed Singh also arrived at the scene to assess the situation. They gathered information from the police and fire brigade officials. The rescue operation is ongoing, with the fire brigade facing the challenge of safely extracting those still trapped. There is no information available on the number of people trapped in the restaurant on the 7th floor.
Collector Gaurav Singh revealed that the fire originated from the basement and reached the 7th floor. Seven people were working in an office on the 7th floor and were safely rescued. The rescue operation has concluded, with a total of 47 people rescued. No casualties were reported. The fire brigade is investigating the cause of the fire.
