The death toll from the recent earthquake in Afghanistan has tragically exceeded 1,400, with thousands more injured. The earthquakes, which occurred on Monday in eastern Afghanistan, caused widespread destruction and initially resulted in over 800 deaths and injuries to more than 2,800 people. Rescue efforts are ongoing, but the mountainous terrain is making it difficult to reach isolated villages. A 6.3 magnitude earthquake, which was felt across the region including Pakistan, was the initial tremor, as reported by the National Centre for Seismology (NCS). Numerous aftershocks followed, ranging between 4 and 5 in magnitude.
