On the fifth day of his hunger strike, Manoj Jarange consumed water, with visible signs of weakness. On Tuesday, Jarange expressed his willingness to engage in discussions with the government. The Mumbai Police issued a notice to Jarange and his team to vacate Azad Maidan. Addressing the allegations of violating the law, Jarange asserted that no laws had been broken. He affirmed that he would not leave Mumbai until his demands are met. Jarange has appealed to protesters to maintain peace and emphasized the need for the government to accept the reservation demand and issue a government order recognizing the Kunbi community. This would grant Marathas reservation in government jobs and education. On Monday, the Bombay High Court had urged his supporters to clear roads and restore normalcy. Jarange warned that any attempt to arrest him or remove him from Mumbai could have serious consequences. He stated that he was prepared to go to any extent.
