The Maa Lingeshwari Temple, a site of ancient mystique in Aalor Jhatiban, Kondagaon, will open its doors for a single day in 2025. The temple, situated within a cave, is scheduled to open on Wednesday, September 3, 2025, continuing the customary practice.
Nestled in the picturesque valleys of Bastar, the temple is recognized as a significant hub for religious devotion. Here, Maa Lingeshwari is revered in the form of a Shivling. It is widely believed that devotees who offer prayers at the temple have their desires fulfilled.
Each year, the temple attracts thousands of pilgrims, not only from Chhattisgarh but also from various other states. Many childless couples visit seeking blessings for progeny. As per tradition, cucumbers are presented as offerings. The priest then divides the cucumber equally and distributes it as prasad among the couple. This act is believed to fulfill their wishes.
In a press briefing, Nandlal Diwan, the priest from Maa Lingeshwari Seva Samiti, (Aalor Jhatiban village) confirmed that the temple gates will be opened on September 3, in accordance with the established tradition, and thousands of worshippers will attend the ceremony.
The annual Maa Lingeshwari fair is highly anticipated by the community. Devotees typically begin to arrive a day prior to the opening to ensure they receive the initial blessings of the deity.
