The inclusion of two Pakistani women on Bihar’s voter list has caused considerable surprise. The women, who reportedly immigrated to India about seven decades ago, were discovered during a review initiated by the Ministry of Home Affairs to identify individuals residing in the country unlawfully. Voter ID cards were created for Imrana Khanam (Imrana Khatoon) and Firdousia Khanam, who live in Tank Lane. Both women were validated during the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process, a preparation for the upcoming 2025 assembly elections. The Booth Level Officer (BLO) in charge of verification was notified by the election department, based on official communication received from the Home Ministry on August 11.
