Over the past day, Russia has claimed to have neutralized 112 Ukrainian drones, according to reports from the Russian defence ministry. The strikes reportedly targeted port infrastructure, which was described as being utilized for military activities. The Ukrainian Air Force reported that Russia launched a large-scale assault on Ukraine, deploying 598 drones and 31 missiles, with Kyiv as a primary target. Damage was reported across numerous areas within the capital, specifically affecting 33 locations in all 10 districts, with significant destruction observed at buildings and shopping centers.
A previous attack on August 27, in Kyiv’s Darnytskyi district, resulted in a high number of casualties when missiles struck a residential building. At least 22 individuals lost their lives, including four children. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy spoke of the ongoing rescue operations and extended condolences to the bereaved families.
