The Pakistani cricket team has a reputation for its players’ on-field behavior, sometimes leading to embarrassment. Incidents of fighting with players from other teams, misconduct with fans, and occasional arguments among themselves are well-documented. Pakistani players are often quick to anger, even when they are at fault. This was exemplified by Pakistan’s wicketkeeper-batsman, Mohammad Haris, who, after a disappointing batting performance, vented his frustration by smashing his bat during a live match.
Haris was given a chance to play in a T20 series in the UAE, serving as a warm-up for the Asia Cup 2025. Despite recent poor form, the team management continued to support him, including him in the initial two matches of the tri-series. Unfortunately, he underperformed in both games. Against Afghanistan, he scored only 15 runs from 13 balls. In the subsequent match against the UAE, he was dismissed after scoring a single run from just two balls.
In a match held in Sharjah on August 30, UAE’s fast bowler Junaid Siddiqui quickly dismissed Haris. Haris, after attempting a shot towards the third man, was caught out on the boundary. This led to an outburst of anger, and Haris channeled his frustration into his bat, which he slammed on the ground, breaking it. The incident was captured on video and widely circulated on social media. Haris’s form has been poor, with the batsman only managing 37 runs from 42 balls across his last eight innings.
