B. Sudarshan Reddy, the opposition’s nominee for the Vice President, has reached out to all parliamentarians, seeking their support for the upcoming election. Reddy underscored his commitment to preserving the sanctity of the election process. He shared his decision to run for the Vice Presidency due to the prevailing environment in the nation, citing his 45 years of experience in safeguarding the Constitution. He engaged with Jharkhand’s Chief Minister, Hemant Soren, in an effort to secure his backing. Reddy pointed out that the Constitution’s preamble is the essence of the Constitution. The Supreme Court has the responsibility to protect it. He also spoke about the arrest of Hemant Soren, stating the constitutional bodies are responsible for it. Reddy also raised the issue of voter list revisions, highlighting concerns about the current processes of adding and removing voters. He has sent letters to every member of the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha to request support, and plans to converse with key leaders from the Bharatiya Janata Party. He paid respects to Dishom Guru Shibu Soren. In response to inquiries, Reddy stated he would address the 130th Amendment Bill following the Parliamentary Joint Committee’s report. Furthermore, he refrained from commenting on the appointment of judges via the collegium system, indicating that it would require a separate discussion. His primary aim is to ensure the Vice Presidential election aligns with constitutional standards and upholds its reputation. He declared that he will not let the Constitution’s honor be compromised. When asked about the former governor’s involvement in the arrest of Chief Minister Hemant Soren, Reddy avoided making personal remarks.
