Prime Minister Narendra Modi is in Japan for the India-Japan Annual Summit, marking his first visit there in seven years. This visit, hosted by Shigeru Ishiba, aims to bolster India’s strategic interests and reinforce global stability. During his visit, PM Modi interacted with the Indian diaspora in Tokyo, praising their hospitality and witnessing cultural performances. Speaking at the India-Japan Economic Forum, PM Modi initiated his address with greetings in Japanese. He lauded Japan’s significant contribution to India’s progress, noting over $40 billion in Japanese investments in sectors such as infrastructure, manufacturing, and technology. PM Modi highlighted India’s economic momentum, political stability, and policy clarity. He projected India’s rapid economic expansion, forecasting its ascent to become the world’s third-largest economy. In collaboration with Japan, an agreement has been signed to facilitate cooperation on clean energy initiatives and a sustainable future. PM Modi further elaborated on India’s investments in technological fields such as AI, semiconductors, quantum computing, and biotechnology, highlighting the potential for joint innovation. He described the India-Japan partnership as a source of shared prosperity, emphasizing India’s role as a gateway for Japanese businesses to expand into the Global South. Ishiba also underscored the ongoing cooperation between both nations, particularly in the realms of AI, space exploration, and clean energy. He emphasized initiatives like people-to-people exchanges, technological advancements, and collaboration in key sectors such as semiconductors and biofuels to ensure economic security and secure supply chains.
