Renault India has stepped forward to clarify the compatibility of its vehicles with E20 fuel, aiming to allay customer anxieties. The company has released an official statement confirming that its vehicles, including the 2022 model Triber, are safe to operate with E20 fuel, even though they were initially certified for E10 fuel. This announcement is a direct response to the prevalent concerns within the automotive market regarding the suitability of E20 fuel in vehicles originally designed for E10. Renault referred to a joint study undertaken by the Indian Oil Corporation and the Automotive Research Association of India. This comprehensive study assessed the long-term effects of various fuel blends on vehicle performance and durability, specifically focusing on the impact of using E20 fuel in E10-certified cars. The Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas disseminated the draft findings to all vehicle manufacturers. The study’s key finding revealed no negative impacts on existing vehicles running on E20 fuel, confirming that E10-certified vehicles can function effectively with E20 fuel. Renault indicated that based on the study’s conclusions, the usage of E20 fuel in their vehicles does not pose substantial technical risks. The company explicitly mentioned that their models, previously certified for E10 standards, can operate smoothly on E20 fuel. This is particularly important because the Indian government is targeting the nationwide availability of E20 ethanol-blended petrol by 2025. Renault’s reassurance helps customers feel confident about using E20 in their existing vehicles and aligns with the government’s environmental objectives.
