Several states are grappling with the effects of intense rainfall, including severe waterlogging and traffic disruptions. Uttarakhand, Punjab, Haryana, West Bengal, Madhya Pradesh, Kerala, Karnataka, Assam, and Mizoram were hit by torrential rain on Wednesday. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has urged residents to monitor weather conditions closely, predicting continued showers in various areas until August 30.
According to the IMD’s latest forecast, isolated heavy rainfall is anticipated in Chhattisgarh, Odisha, Vidarbha, Madhya Pradesh, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, and Sikkim through August 30. Bihar and Jharkhand are also expected to receive heavy monsoon rains on August 29 and 30. In Himachal Pradesh, landslides and flash floods have significantly impacted daily life, resulting in loss of life. The IMD has issued a yellow alert for rain in certain areas of Himachal Pradesh, including Solan and Simaur.
Heavy rainfall is projected to continue in Uttarakhand, East Rajasthan, and Haryana for the next seven days. Additional regions likely to experience rain include Jammu & Kashmir and Punjab from August 30 to September 1; West Rajasthan from August 29-31; and Uttar Pradesh on September 1 and 2. Light to moderate rainfall, accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning, is also predicted for Northwest India. Jammu-Kashmir, Ladakh, and West Rajasthan will receive showers today, while Uttarakhand will experience rain over the next week.
Arunachal Pradesh is expected to experience isolated heavy rainfall from August 28th to 30th. Furthermore, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram & Tripura will see rain over the next seven days.
