Tasked with chasing down a challenging 134 in a reduced 7-over innings, the Superstarz secured the win with one ball remaining in a match filled with explosive batting on Wednesday.
Tejasvi Dahiya and Anmol Sharma initiated a blistering start, launching a relentless offensive from the outset. They dominated the powerplay, putting on a batting display that quickly established their control. The pair established the fastest team fifty of the competition. Their partnership amassed a staggering 122 runs in just 5.5 overs, leaving their opponents struggling.
Dahiya was eventually dismissed for an astounding 69 off 21 deliveries, carrying much of the scoring load. A brief moment of tension arrived when Vision Panchal was run out for six in the final over. However, Sharma kept his composure, hitting a decisive six over long-on with two balls to go to secure the win. Sharma finished with an unbeaten 56 off just 17 balls, steering his team to safety with a calm approach and powerful batting.
Earlier, Dev Lakra was the standout performer for Purani Dilli 6 after early setbacks threatened to derail their innings. The match began after a rain delay, with South Delhi’s Aman Bharti striking early, dismissing Vansh Bedi and Samarth Seth in the first over. Lakra and Yug Gupta then orchestrated a dynamic counterattack.
Their 117-run partnership at the third wicket moved at a rapid pace, with Gupta contributing a fiery 38 off 14 balls before being run out. Lakra, however, was exceptional, scoring an undefeated 85 off just 23 deliveries. His powerful hitting, which included numerous sixes, thrilled the audience as Purani Dilli 6 recorded a formidable 133/3 in 7 overs.
Despite a significant target, the South Delhi Superstarz exhibited determination and skill, successfully chasing down the victory and securing their playoff position. Their aggressive batting approach and ability to remain composed under pressure position them as strong favorites to advance deep into the tournament.
