The Indian government, through its Union Cabinet chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has given the go-ahead for India to bid for the 2030 Commonwealth Games. The Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports proposed the bid. The Cabinet has also approved the signing of the Host Collaboration Agreement (HCA). This includes the necessary guarantees from concerned ministries and departments, and also the provision of financial aid to the Gujarat government, should the bid be accepted. The Games will involve athletes from 72 nations, along with numerous coaches, officials, and media representatives. The event is poised to stimulate local economies and create revenue streams.
