To assist individuals traveling to Bihar for Durga Puja, Diwali, and Chhath Puja, the government is launching bus services. These buses will be available for people returning home for the festivals. From September 20 to November 30, the buses will serve routes connecting Delhi, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, and West Bengal. The services will be operated under a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model to ensure a sufficient number of buses are in operation.
A meeting with bus operators took place on Monday at the Bihar State Road Transport Corporation (BSRTC) premises in Phulwarisharif, presided over by administrator Atul Verma. Several important directives were issued during this meeting.
Online Booking Commences September 1st. The BSRTC will start online ticket bookings from September 1, 2025. Tickets for these buses can be booked through the corporation’s website. Passengers unable to book tickets online can obtain them through e-ticketing machines available on the buses.
Passenger Benefits. Passengers will benefit from affordable ticket prices during these festivals. All buses must display the BSRTC logo and necessary stickers. Buses operating to Delhi and Haryana will require two drivers. Fare and discount information must be prominently displayed on the buses.
Charging excessive fares from passengers is considered a violation. Furthermore, bringing, storing, or consuming alcohol on these buses is a punishable offense. All essential bus documents, including tax certificates, PUC, insurance, and permits, are mandatory. Drivers must adhere to the specified speed limits.
Train Tickets Often Scarce. The surge in travelers during the festive season often leads to difficulty in securing train tickets. In response, the BSRTC has initiated this program to alleviate travel challenges for the public.
