In Ahmedabad, Prime Minister Narendra Modi presided over the launch of exports for Maruti Suzuki’s e-Vitara, a significant step for the company’s global battery electric vehicle (BEV) initiative. This ‘Made in India’ BEV will be exported to over a hundred nations. Alongside, the localized production of hybrid battery electrodes was inaugurated at the Suzuki Motor Plant in Hansalpur, Gujarat. This initiative underscores the nation’s commitment to self-reliance and green mobility. The e-Vitara had its Indian debut in January 2025, and the commercial production is now underway at the Hansalpur facility. With an annual production capacity of 2.6 million units across its Indian plants, the company has made a significant impact, exporting over 3.32 lakh vehicles and selling 19.01 lakh units domestically in FY25, showcasing the growing prominence of models like the e-Vitara, Suzuki Fronx, and Jimny in international markets. India is now positioned to be Suzuki’s global hub for electric vehicles.
