The Mahindra Thar (3-door), a popular lifestyle off-road SUV, is undergoing a comprehensive upgrade by Mahindra & Mahindra. The launch, initially expected in the first half of 2026, is now planned for September 2025. Test runs have provided glimpses of the forthcoming model. The 2025 Thar will incorporate design cues and features from the Thar Rox. Exterior enhancements involve a new grille with stacked slats, revised headlights, and a refreshed bumper. The side profile is largely unchanged, except for new alloy wheels. The rear will feature a new bumper and updated tail lamps. New color options may also be added. Interior upgrades include a larger touchscreen infotainment system with the latest UI, an updated digital instrument cluster, and a new electric steering wheel. Feature additions could include ventilated front seats (from the Thar Rox), a wireless phone charger, a 360-degree camera, ambient lighting, rear disc brakes, and a Level-2 ADAS suite. Engine options will remain the same: a 2.0-liter turbo petrol, a 1.5-liter turbo diesel, and a 2.2-liter turbo diesel. The petrol engine delivers 152 bhp, while the diesel engines produce 119 bhp and 130 bhp. Transmission choices will be the existing 6-speed manual and 6-speed automatic. Both rear-wheel drive and four-wheel drive configurations will be offered.
