Gujarat is set to witness a major infrastructure boost as Prime Minister Narendra Modi prepares for a visit on August 25th and 26th. During this visit, he will be inaugurating and laying the groundwork for various projects in Ahmedabad and Hansalpur, collectively valued at over ₹5400 crore.
The railway sector will receive an investment of more than ₹1400 crore. This funding will facilitate the doubling of the Mahesana-Palanpur railway line and the gauge conversion of the Kalol-Kadi-Katosan and Becharaji-Ranuja railway lines. Furthermore, new transportation options will be introduced, including a passenger train between Katosan Road and Sabarmati, and a freight train designed for carrying cars, which will operate from Becharaji.
Road and bridge projects are also on the agenda. These include the construction of new underpasses and overbridges on the Ahmedabad-Mahesana-Palanpur and Ahmedabad-Viramgam roads. The expansion of these roads is expected to ease both passenger travel and the movement of goods.
In the power sector, projects worth over ₹1000 crore will be inaugurated across Ahmedabad, Mahesana, and Gandhinagar. These initiatives are aimed at improving the reliability of the power supply, reducing the incidence of outages, and mitigating the impact of inclement weather.
Urban development will encompass slum redevelopment in Ahmedabad’s Ramapir No Tekro area, along with expansions of the Sardar Patel Ring Road and new water and sewage projects.
Administrative and digital advancements are also planned, with a new Stamps and Registration building in Ahmedabad and a State-Level Data Storage Center in Gandhinagar. These facilities aim to enhance government operations and digital service delivery.
Adding to the developments, on August 26th, Hansalpur will be the site for two significant milestones in the green energy and automobile sectors. The Prime Minister will launch Suzuki’s first global electric car, the e-VITARA, which will be exported to 100 countries. Also, the local production of hybrid battery electrodes will begin at the TDS Lithium-Ion Battery Plant, with the goal of domesticating the manufacture of more than 80% of the batteries used.
