The Mahindra Thar (3-door), a popular lifestyle off-road SUV, is set for a comprehensive upgrade. While initial plans pointed towards a 2026 release, the launch is now targeted for September 2025. The upcoming model has been spotted during testing, revealing key details about its features and design. The facelift promises significant changes.
The 2025 Thar will incorporate design elements from the Thar Rocks. Exterior changes include a new grille, updated headlights, and a revised bumper. The side profile will retain its original design, with new alloy wheels being the exception. The rear will feature a redesigned bumper and taillights. The introduction of new color options is also expected.
Inside, feature upgrades are expected. The 2025 Mahindra Thar facelift might include a larger touchscreen infotainment system, an updated digital instrument cluster, and a new electric steering wheel. The features could include ventilated front seats, wireless phone charging, a 360-degree camera, ambient lighting, rear disc brakes, and a Level-2 ADAS suite.
Engine options will remain the same: a 2.0-liter turbo petrol, a 1.5-liter turbo diesel, and a 2.2-liter turbo diesel. The petrol engine will produce 152 bhp, while the diesel engines will generate 119 bhp and 130 bhp respectively. Transmission options include a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed torque converter automatic unit. Both rear-wheel-drive and four-wheel-drive configurations will be offered.
