The Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR) has released a report detailing the assets of India’s chief ministers. The report indicates that Mamata Banerjee, the Chief Minister of West Bengal, is the poorest among them, with assets totaling only 15.40 lakh rupees. The data was compiled from the affidavits filed by the chief ministers during the latest assembly elections and by-elections. This has become a subject of intense political debate in West Bengal.
Mamata Banerjee holds the distinction of being ‘India’s poorest Chief Minister,’ while N Chandrababu Naidu of Andhra Pradesh is the ‘richest Chief Minister,’ with assets exceeding 931 crore rupees.
