In a major operation, the Jharkhand ATS successfully extradited notorious gangster Mayank Singh, also known as Sunil Meena, from Azerbaijan to Ranchi. According to officials, a team under the leadership of Jharkhand ATS SP Rishav Kumar Jha completed all required legal procedures for the extradition. Mayank Singh was then brought back to India. Birsa Munda Airport was under tight security and surveillance.
SP Rishav Kumar Jha highlighted that this is a landmark achievement for the Jharkhand Police, as it’s the first time they’ve successfully completed an extradition. He expressed hope that other criminals residing abroad will also be brought back to India soon through extradition or deportation. The police are thankful for the support received from the DGP, Chief Minister, and state and central governments. Mayank Singh is wanted in more than 50 cases across multiple states, including Jharkhand, Rajasthan, and Punjab.
