TVS plans to introduce a new electric scooter, the Orbiter, to its EV lineup. The launch is scheduled for August 28. This new model is designed to sit below the iQube in the company’s electric vehicle range.
The launch date is confirmed, but specific details about the scooter remain undisclosed. TVS is reportedly developing a cost-effective, basic scooter, which will likely feature a hub-mounted motor. This design approach is intended to keep the price competitive.
The Orbiter will serve as an entry point for consumers into the TVS electric scooter range. While the Orbiter name is the frontrunner, the company has also secured trademarks for names like EV One and O. The new scooter is expected to come in various configurations, similar to the iQube, which offers multiple versions.
Given that the iQube’s price starts at ₹1 lakh and goes up to nearly ₹2 lakh, the Orbiter is likely to be priced more affordably. The Orbiter will likely feature a smaller battery and fewer features to achieve a lower price point. The increasing availability of government incentives is encouraging manufacturers like TVS to introduce EVs at various price points to attract a wider customer base.
