The Uttar Pradesh government is introducing a dedicated bus service for individuals traveling from Varanasi to Gaya Ji, Bihar, during the Pitru Paksha period, aimed at facilitating those performing ancestral rituals. This service will provide a convenient option for pilgrims and other travelers seeking to reach Gaya Ji.
Transport Minister Dayashankar Singh outlined the route, which will include stops at Chandauli, Sasaram, Aurangabad, and Sherghati. The bus is scheduled to depart from Varanasi (Cantt) station. The service will operate daily, ensuring accessibility throughout the week.
The bus will depart from Varanasi at 8 PM, reaching Gaya Ji at 4 AM the next morning. The fare for the journey is set at 465 rupees. This initiative is intended to alleviate the dependence on private vehicles, potentially saving both time and expenses for travelers. The government recognizes the high volume of devotees who travel to Gaya Ji during Pitru Paksha and aims to offer them enhanced travel options.
Following this, the transport corporation is considering making this bus route a regular service. In addition, the government is working to boost tourism and provide better facilities to the public and pilgrims.
Notably, the Uttar Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation also operates a direct bus service from Lucknow to Muzaffarpur in Bihar, with a fare of 862 rupees. This bus leaves Lucknow at 2 AM and reaches Muzaffarpur by 4 AM the next day.
