Today, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will embark on a visit to Bihar and West Bengal, with a focus on inaugurating and laying the foundation stones for numerous development projects. The total investment in these projects amounts to approximately Rs 18,200 crore.
In Bihar, the Prime Minister’s schedule includes an event in Gaya at around 11 am, where he will inaugurate and lay the foundation stone for projects valued at about Rs 13,000 crore. This segment involves the flagging off of two trains and a public address. A key highlight of the Bihar visit is the inauguration of the Auntha-Simaria bridge, crossing the Ganga River. This bridge, which is 8.15 km long, is located on NH-31 and features a 1.86 km six-lane bridge, with a construction cost exceeding Rs 1,870 crore. This infrastructure project is crucial for improving connectivity between Mokama in Patna and Begusarai, decreasing the need for heavy vehicles to detour for over 100 km due to the existing older rail-road bridge, ‘Rajendra Setu’.
In West Bengal, the Prime Minister’s engagements begin around 4:15 PM with the inauguration of new Metro train sections in Kolkata, including a Metro ride from JC Road Metro Station to Jai Hind Airport. Furthermore, he will be involved in the foundation stone laying and inauguration of projects worth over Rs 5,200 crore and will address a public gathering.
The implementation of these new infrastructure facilities is expected to alleviate traffic issues and bolster connectivity in both states, emphasizing the Prime Minister’s commitment to infrastructure development.
