The Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, will be inaugurating three metro projects in Kolkata this Friday. Invitations were extended to West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee to participate in the event, but she will not be attending. Rail Minister of State Ravneet Singh Bittu shared his perspective during an interview, stating that the metro service will continue regardless of CM Banerjee’s presence. It’s understood that the Chief Minister will not be present at the Prime Minister’s program.
Bittu highlighted the unity between Punjab and Bengal, recognizing that the country is one. He also noted the upcoming conclusion of the parliamentary session and the Prime Minister’s inauguration of a ₹3900 crore project. He mentioned that the public in West Bengal had long requested these projects, and the Prime Minister will be flagging off the Orange, Yellow, and Green Lines. Bittu emphasized that all states must develop together to achieve a developed India, irrespective of the governing party or Chief Minister.
He pointed out the benefits these projects offer to the public, like improved convenience and services. He suggested that West Bengal MPs could propose similar projects. Bittu highlighted the Prime Minister’s commitment to the people of West Bengal and the planned metro extension, covering over 13 kilometers. He emphasized the convenience of the metro, allowing quick and comfortable travel to the airport, avoiding traffic delays.
Bittu stated that political rivalry often harms the state and urged the government to collaborate with the Prime Minister on significant projects rather than engaging in political conflicts. He reiterated that the metro will operate as scheduled, regardless of the Chief Minister’s attendance, and that work should continue. He noted the cultural programs and performances planned for the event, featuring international artists. He stressed that the Prime Minister represents the entire nation.
