The Patna police conducted an encounter, resulting in the injury of notorious criminal Vijay Sahani. The incident took place near Biscomaun Golambar in the Alamganj police station area on Sunday night. Sahani sustained gunshot wounds to his left leg and was immediately admitted to a hospital for medical attention. Authorities also seized two firearms from the criminal.
Investigations revealed that Sahani resided in Asochak, under the jurisdiction of the Ramkrishna Nagar police station. Intelligence suggested that he was planning to execute two significant criminal acts. Acting on this information, a joint team comprising officers from Alamganj, Malsalami, and the STF apprehended Sahani. During questioning, Sahani disclosed the location of concealed weapons near the Biscomaun Golambar in Alamganj.
When officers escorted him to the location, Sahani allegedly retrieved the hidden weapons, initiating a shootout with the police. The officers returned fire in self-defense, resulting in Sahani being wounded in the leg. Patna SSP Kartikeya Sharma, along with City SP Parichay Kumar and DSP Rajkishore Singh, arrived at the scene to oversee the investigation. The SSP confirmed that Sahani was wanted in connection with over 20 criminal cases, including murder, robbery, and dacoity. Intelligence suggests that Sahani operated as a contract killer and had established a reputation as a shooter in Odisha and Jharkhand, in addition to Bihar.
