With the announcement of election dates in Bangladesh, doubts persist concerning the actions of the chief advisor. Kader Siddiqui, the founder of the Krishak Sramik Janata League, has cautioned that if elections are not conducted by February, Chief Advisor Muhammad Yunus might face repercussions more serious than those experienced by the deposed Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. For the past year, Yunus has been in charge of Bangladesh. Upon Sheikh Hasina’s leaving the country, he took control, promising elections within half a year. When elections were not held, political parties began protesting against Yunus, ultimately leading to the announcement of election dates. Speaking at the Makrai Day celebration for Kadaria Bahini freedom fighters, Kader Siddiqui said, “I respect Professor Yunus, but if elections are not held in February, your fate will be ten times worse than Sheikh Hasina’s.” In his speech, Kader not only attacked Yunus but also addressed Nahid Islam, a close associate, stating, “If Bangabandhu is not the Father of the Nation, then who is your father? Think carefully before you speak.” He made this statement while condemning attacks on Bangladesh’s heritage, referring to the internal government’s perceived disrespect towards Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. Kader, supporting the anti-discrimination movement, emphasized that Sheikh Hasina’s removal was by the will of Allah, not any individual’s design. He clarified that neither Nahid nor Yunus were responsible, but the public’s demonstrations brought it about.
He also mentioned that he would fight against any attempts to harm Sheikh Hasina. On the matter of Sheikh Hasina’s sentencing, Kader stated that the decision should be in accordance with the law, including punishment if needed. He said, “Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and Sheikh Hasina are not the same. As long as Bangladesh exists, ‘Joy Bangla’ will remain.” He added, “If anyone tries to do anything wrong against her, I will fight against it as long as I live.”
