The Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh, Vishnu Deo Sai, initiated a cyber security awareness drive by launching the SBI Cyber Vigilance Rath from the Chief Minister’s residence in Raipur. The campaign is a proactive measure to address the growing issue of cyber fraud. Sai acknowledged the convenience digital technologies offer but also stressed the need for caution due to the increased risk of cybercrime.
The campaign will employ various methods, including audio-visual presentations, street plays, and puppet shows, to educate the public about cyber threats and protective measures. The Chief Minister noted that the initiative is designed to increase cyber security awareness among citizens. Special attention will be given to 29 identified hotspots in the state that are prone to cyber fraud.
Sai appealed to the public to be vigilant, advising them to protect their sensitive financial information, such as passwords and OTPs, and to avoid clicking on suspicious links. He emphasized the evolving tactics used by cybercriminals and the importance of vigilance to prevent financial losses. The primary objective is to empower citizens with the knowledge and tools needed to stay safe from cyber threats.
The campaign, organized by the State Bank of India (SBI), aims to educate people about cyber security and protect them from financial scams. The campaign will span the period from August 15, 2024, to November 30, 2025, and will cover all 33 districts of the state. The SBI’s Cyber Vigilance Rath will use innovative strategies such as street plays and stage shows to disseminate information and encourage the public to take proactive steps against cybercrime.
Bank officials have set up a dedicated helpline (1930) for individuals to report financial fraud or seek support.
