A heartbreaking incident in Garhwa district, Jharkhand, resulted in the deaths of four individuals who had entered a septic tank. The deceased included three brothers. The local police were alerted following the tragedy, and they subsequently took charge of the bodies for post-mortem procedures.
The incident took place in Nawada village, within the jurisdiction of the Garhwa police station. A new septic tank had been constructed at the home of Moti Chaudhary as part of ongoing construction work. Maltu Ram, a villager, initially entered the tank to dismantle the formwork.
As Maltu Ram remained inside the tank for an extended period, the other family members outside grew concerned. Raju Shekhar Chaudhary, the eldest son of Moti Chaudhary, went into the tank to check on Maltu Ram. However, he too did not return. His brothers, Ajay Chaudhary and Chandrashekhar Chaudhary, then entered the tank one by one. Sadly, all four individuals succumbed to suffocation inside the confined space.
The news of the four deaths, including the three brothers, caused widespread panic and sorrow throughout the village. The local police were immediately informed. After significant efforts, villagers managed to retrieve the four individuals from the septic tank and rushed them to the hospital. Unfortunately, they were pronounced dead upon arrival.
Senior officials, including Garhwa District SDO Sanjay Kumar, SDPO Neeraj Kumar, and the Station In-charge, promptly arrived at the hospital to gather information about the incident. Initial investigations suggest that the deaths were caused by the build-up of toxic gases within the septic tank. Police are currently conducting a thorough investigation into the matter.
